Who uses the Tv output for what? At first sight you could think of watching movies. And you are right man! :-)
Almost all people use the output for watching movies. A quarter prefers playing games in front of the TV than of the monitor. And still 4% use their graphics cards for professionell presentations in the job. At the point 'other' other applications could have been mentioned. Besides some guys who use their TV output for everything because they haven´t connected a monitor to the card, connecting a BT848 to the BT869 was mentioned often. Well, what ever that means? :-) 7% use the output for the Internet. In the forum you can sometimes read that users are disappointed when they try to surf the Internet at the TV the first time. The picture quality is worse than expected. So I want to mention at this point, using the TV for reading text on it requires best equipment. That means a high-quality TV set with e.g. Trinitron tube, 100Hz and at least 25 inch big. With this equipment it is possible to do that, at least you can check your mails during an ad break at the TV.
At last it was asked which is the prefered movie format. For a long time DVD was in front. At the end DivX could win the race with slight margin.
There was a problem with this question. Actually I had to ask two questions: which is the best format and which is the most often used? Because almost everybody will favour DVD, but many people watch much more DivX movies than DVD. However, the result shows that Video-CD is quite dead and that DivX has became established as a standard. Ok, that´s it with the the statistics. The table with the chipsets for each card will come soon hopefully. (JB)
