About h.o.t

This page is about the TV ouput of graphic cards, which are based on nVidia chipsets. In view of the increasing number of users who want to play DVDs or DivX movies with their PC on the TV, this output is becoming more and more a decision for buying. Unfortunately most manufacturers doesn´t seem to be able to give a proper support for the TV output of their cards. Even the newest generation of graphic cards with GeForce 4 chipsets doesn´t seem to alter this fact significantly.

The main problem are the black borders around the picture on the TV screen. They are very annoying for most applications like DVD-playback or decoding. So I started this page about 2 years ago with a hardware solution for this problem. It was a little tricky but found its friends. With the help and the support of other users (s. credits on the info tab) it was possible to solve the problem on software basis only. This program which is named TVTool is in the focus of this page.

TVTool

First the program consisted of a small window only and couldn´t to do anything else than setting the picture on TV to fullscreen. In the course of time this program was developed to a realtively extensive application which runs on almost all graphics cards with a nVidia chipset and supports the most common TV encoder chips. It was named TVTool since version 2.0. What it is good for you can see easily in the help file which is online available in the FAQ section.

Until version 4.6 TVTool was offered as Freeware. The expenditure of time and money for the further development increased much so the continued existence was possible as shareware only. Unfortunately the development is not supported by any company, wether financially nor by knowledge (datasheets etc).

In the download area you will also find the program TVCC. This is from "TL" which might be already known from other nice applications like MoreTV, in whose develpoment he was involved. The development is stopped (probably forever) but it will still be offered in the download section for a while.

So, have much fun on these sites!

That´s it, JB
